About Vivek Agrawal, M.D.
Vivek Agrawal, MD, a nationally recognized orthopedic surgeon, specializes in shoulder surgery and sports medicine. Dr. Agrawal has successfully treated patients from across the United States and around the world. As a renowned shoulder specialist both nationally and internationally, Dr. Agrawal has treated patients from countries as far as Saudi Arabia, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Japan, Germany, Mexico, and Canada. Dr. Agrawal's interest in shoulder care was born out of an injury he sustained while playing competitive tennis when a lack of available treatment options piqued his interest in advancements in shoulder care. After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Dr. Agrawal went on to earn his medical degree at Indiana University, where he then completed his residency in orthopedic surgery. He also served as a major in the United States Air Force. His injury and growing interest in shoulder mechanics led him to seek advanced fellowship training in shoulder surgery, with some of the world's most highly regarded surgeons. Successful treatment of his own injury has been fundamental in driving him to develop highly specialized expertise in arthroscopic and reconstructive shoulder techniques. Dr. Agrawal enjoys helping patients with complex and difficult to diagnose shoulder problems and previously failed shoulder surgeries. In addition to being a leader in arthroscopic shoulder surgery, he is proud to have had thousands of physician and patient referrals. "The most important thing to me is to take care of my patients," Dr. Agrawal says. "The highest compliment is to have physicians and patients refer friends and family to me." Dr. Agrawal is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and is also an active member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Agrawal is honored to have been selected among the “10 Shoulder Surgeons to Know in America" by Becker's Hospital Review.
