Lovelace Medical Group Emergency General Surgery offers a wide range of services for unexpected medical conditions. While primarily working out of Lovelace Medical Center on call, our providers can consult, examine, and perform surgery at either Lovelace Women's Hospital or Lovelace Westside Hospital if you are admitted to the Emergency Department at one of these locations. 
Our list of auto-accept conditions allow patients to receive emergency care if they are exhibiting any of the following conditions:
  • Appendicitis (uncomplicated, complicated, perforated) 
  • Breast abscess 
  • Colorectal cancer 
  • Diverticulitis (perforated, abscess, colovesicular fistula) 
  • Enteric or colonic fistula 
  • Foreign body  
  • Gallbladder disease (cholecystitis, biliary colic, choledocholithiasis, biliary pancreatitis) 
  • Gastric cancer 
  • Gastric outlet obstruction 
  • Incarcerated/Strangulated hernia 
  • Intraabdominal abscess 
  • Intraabdominal sepsis 
  • Ischemic colitis 
  • Large bowel (colon) obstruction or perforation 
  • Mesenteric ischemia 
  • Necrotizing soft tissue infection 
  • Need for gastrostomy, jejunostomy, feeding tube, colostomy 
  • Paraesophageal (hiatal) hernia (incarcerated, strangulated) 
  • Peptic ulcer disease (gastric perforation, duodenal perforation) 
  • Peritonitis and abscess 
  • Portal vein thrombus/Mesenteric vein thrombus 
  • Retroperitoneal infection and abscess 
  • Small bowel (intestinal) obstruction or perforation
