Delighted! Giddy! And, Grateful! I’m 6 weeks post anterior hip replacement. I can sleep through the night. I can walk without a limp and can stand up straight. And, I’m back on my bike scouting wildlife down at the Bosque. Life is sweet, thanks to Dr. Gilligan’s orthopedic expertise and Lovelace Medical Group’s coordinated care. Read on because I have a point of comparison. I’ve had two knee replacements done at NM Orthopedics. While they are “efficient” pushing patients through the assembly line (kind of like General Motors), some of the doctors are very arrogant and dismissive. When it came time to replace my hip I had read the anterior approach was recommended for people who bicycle and do yoga. I asked NM Ortho about this procedure and was told their approach was superior (lateral posterior) and there was not enough research to say otherwise. I’m glad a friend told me about Lovelace Medical Group and learned that Dr. Gilligan is trained to perform multiple hip replacement procedures and doesn’t force a “one size fits all” approach on his patients. He listened to my concerns and my desire to resume my physical activities (biking, tennis, hiking, and yoga) and agreed the anterior hip replacement was the procedure for me. Lovelace Medical Group is a smaller and more friendly healthcare environment than NM Orthopedics. Do yourself a favor, skip the assembly line and go to Lovelace Medical Group. Thank you, Dr. Gilligan. I’m back to a pain-free active life.
