About James Martinez, MD
James Martinez, M.D., is a native New Mexican gastroenterologist and has been practicing in the Albuquerque area for more than 20 years.
Dr. Martinez earned bachelor’s degrees in psychology and biology at Pomona College in Claremont, Calif. He earned his medical degree from the University of New Mexico. Dr. Martinez completed his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of New Mexico.
Dr. Martinez is active in the medical community. He serves as president of the New Mexico Medical Society (NMMS). He is a past president of the Greater Albuquerque Medical Association (GAMA). Dr. Martinez is a member of the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE),and the American Gastroenterology Association. Additionally, he is a clinical professor of medicine at the University of New Mexico medical school. Dr. Martinez is fluent in Spanish.
